Multiple function of lncRNA MALAT1 in cancer occurrence and progression

Abstract: Long non‐coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have received particular attention in the last decade due to its engaging in carcinogenesis and tumorigenesis. Metastasis‐associated lung adenocarcinoma transcript 1 (MALAT1) is a lncRNA that plays physiological and pathological roles in many aspects of genome function as well as biological processes involved in cell development, differentiation, proliferation, invasion, and migration. In this article, we will review the effects of lncRNA MALAT1 on the progression of six prevalen… Show more

“…We analyzed the significance of two target lncRNAs levels between two groups using the t test ( P < 0.01). The lncRNAs MALAT1 and HOTAIR levels in NSCLC patients are significantly higher than those in healthy persons ( t test, P < 0.01, Figure B), which agrees well with the elevated expression of lncRNAs MALAT1 and HOTAIR in NSCLC patients. , This assay was further validated by qRT-PCR (Figure C,D), whose results are consistent with those obtained by the proposed assay (Figure A,B), suggesting the capability of this method to precisely distinguish NSCLC patients from healthy persons with high accuracy.…”

“…Further study shows that MALAT1 may competitively interact with DBC1, resulting in SIRT1 release, p53 deacetylation, cell proliferation, and inhibition of cell apoptosis ( 29 ). The roles of MALAT1 in cancer cells have been reviewed ( 30 ). Knockdown or overexpression of MALAT1 under different pathophysiological conditions exhibits substantial transcriptional changes ( Figure 1 ).…”
