Abstract:Odontomas are the most common tumor-like (hamartoma) odontogenic lesions in the gnathic bones. There are two main types: complex odontoma which is composed mainly of amorphous calcification, and compound odontoma which is characterized by irregular tooth-like structures. Odontomas are generally asymptomatic and in most cases involve only one quadrant of the maxilla or mandible. The treatment of choice is surgical removal.
