Multimodal Sensing in Stroke Motor Rehabilitation

Abstract: Applying sensors in biomedical institutions and home‐based stroke rehabilitation is now a global research focus. In this review paper, the relationship between stroke diseases’ physiology mechanism and diverse sensors’ functionalities is detailed explained. The review starts by interpreting how stroke influences motion abilities and then introduces broadly adopted physical training methods. After, the working principles of sensors and their use to objectively provide patients’ body information for stroke rehab… Show more

“…For instance, ECG can be detected to identify heart abnormalities that may result in a heart attack or stroke if not diagnosed and treated in a timely manner. The utilization of EMG in analyzing specific muscle abilities is useful in poststroke rehabilitation and prosthesis applications . EMG enables the assessment of muscle function and activation patterns, which can guide the development of targeted rehabilitation protocols and prosthesis control strategies.…”
