Multifunctional Luminescent Porous Organic Polymer for Selectively Detecting Iron Ions and 1,4-Dioxane via Luminescent Turn-off and Turn-on Sensing

Abstract: The first case of selective Fe(3+) ions and 1,4-dioxane luminescent sensor based on a porous organic polymer, POP-HT, was synthesized by reaction of tetra(p-aminophenyl)methane and chromophoric 2,5,8-trichloro-s-heptazine. POP-HT displayed prominent fluorescence quenching or enhancement in the presence of Fe(3+) ion or 1,4-dioxane. Moreover, an excellent linear relationship was established between luminescent intensity and the corresponding Fe(3+) ion or 1,4-dioxane concentration. The mechanisms of luminescenc… Show more

“…This reflects that the dioxane intake is highest among toxic organic solvents. Since the dioxane and its derivatives penetrates fast to ground water, we propose that the material C2B can be utilized for the removal of dioxane as waste from contaminated water . To prove our proposal, aqueous samples of DMF and dioxane were prepared at different percentage ratio with water.…”

“…Further, the PXRD pattern reveals the amorphous nature of the material (Figure S2). This might be due to the irreversible kinetic control during the polymerisation process of HMP‐TAPA, which resulted in disorderly growth of polymeric network [5i] . The stability of synthesised HMP‐TAPA was determined by TGA analysis in nitrogen atmosphere.…”

“…The quenching mechanism was proposed by Cao et al,, could be applied here to explain the fluorescence quenching. The mechanism of Fe 3+ ion quenching of MCP‐2 in this work could be due to the stronger interactions between Fe 3+ ions and Lewis base sites in MCP‐2 compared with Cu 2+ , Hg 2+ ions and other metal ions as well . MCPs contain N/S atom show the similar recognition ability might be agreed with Cao's theory.…”
