Multifunctional hybrid magnetite nanoparticles with pH‐responsivity, superparamagnetism and fluorescence

Abstract: Multifunctional hybrid nanoparticles, Fe 3 O 4 @poly[(2-dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate]-block-poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate)-graft-carbazole, with pH-responsivity, superparamagnetism and fluorescence for targeted drug delivery and release have been synthesized. The nanoparticles have a core-shell structure as determined from transmission electron microscopy, pH-responsivity as determined from hydrodynamic radius analysis, superparamagnetism as determined from vibrating sample magnetometry and fluorescence… Show more

“…[17][18][19][20][21] There are several techniques to prepare polymer brushes on the surface of inorganic nanoparticles: the "graing to", "graing from" and "graing through" methods. [22][23][24][25][26][27][28][29][30] In our previous work, 20,21 by using these methods, SPION were modied with special polymer brushes, which endowed them with properties including the ability to recognize and bind, catalyze or uoresce.…”

“…A review article has been published by Yuan et al, covering the most interested articles used Schiff base as a stimuli-responsive linker in the polymer Open Journal of Organic Polymer Materials chain [46]. The sensitivity of the imine linkage to pH value is responsible on the responsive feature of the polymer molecule [47] [48]. Moreover, the formation of complexes of the imine can also be used to expand the pH responsiveness of the linker [48]- [53].…”

“…Combining inorganic and polymer, inorganic/polymer composite materials with the excellent performance can be widely applied in the fields of the mechanism, optics, electronics, immobilization, separation, catalysis, and biology, etc., and now are gradually becoming a new hotspot in material field . More importantly, when inorganic particles are encapsulated by polymers, the resulted hybrid particles have the advantages of good dispersibility and high stability, and the functional groups on the surface can be utilized for further modification . Due to the chemical resistance, mechanical stability, relatively low costs, high specific surface area, inorganic silica particles turn out to be ideally fitted for a solid substrate .…”
