Multifunctional bioactive Nd-Ca-Si glasses for fluorescence thermometry, photothermal therapy, and burn tissue repair

Abstract: Photothermal therapy (PTT), an emerging tumor treatment technology, has attracted tremendous interest, but excessive heat will cause damage to surrounding healthy tissues. Therefore, in situ temperature monitoring during PTT is of great importance to determine optimal treatment temperature and repair heat-damaged normal tissues. Here, we report the preparation of multifunctional Nd-Ca-Si silicate glasses and glass/alginate composite hydrogels that not only have photothermal property but also emit fluorescence … Show more

“…However, recent evidence indicates MBGs suitability in managing skin wounds as well. On this matter, the reported studies have been full of hopes and promise [ 17 ]; however, more research should be carried out to determine all the pros and cons in the way of extensive usage of MBGs in skin wound healing. For example, their optimal formulation and dosages, as well as final fate in injured sites, indeed deserve careful investigation in the future.…”

“…Nonhealing wounds often lead to serious damage to the body such as severe bleeding and bacterial infections. [1][2][3][4][5] Thus, timely healing of skin wounds is needed. Wound secretion is a kind of compound secreted by damaged tissues during wound recovery.…”
