Multifractality and negative binomial distributions in high-energy interactions

Abstract: We examine the multifractal characteristics of proton-CNO and proton-AgBr interactions at 800 GeV for their consistency with the negative binomial distribution in decreasing central bin sizes in pseudorapidity phase space. The observed values of multiplicity moments and those derived from negative binomial fits agree well with each other. The behaviour of the values of generalized dimensions for multiplicity fluctuations typifies multifractality in the data and agrees well, not only qualitatively but also quan… Show more

“…The differential cross section as a function of the Z boson p T p T (Z) is predicted at NLO and NNLO. The p T (Z) distributions can provide an important constraint on the gluon PDF [32]. The NLO and NNLO differential distribution shapes are consistent for the p T (Z) variable as given in Figure 1 (left).…”

“…Fractal properties of the NB distribution have been studied elsewhere [6,[21][22][23][24]. To demonstrate the fractality of the NB distribution, it has been proposed to use its generalization [22] or to study individual sources obtained by consideration of different topologies, e.g.…”
