Multifocality Incidence and Accompanying Clinicopathological Factors in Renal Cell Carcinoma

Abstract: Introduction: The incidence of multifocality and associated clinicopathological factors in renal cell carcinoma were evaluated. Materials and Methods: Clinicopathological characteristics were assessed for 122 renal cell carcinoma-pathological specimens from 121 patients. Microscopic and gross tumor pathology, incidence of multifocality as well as association between tumor grade, histological subtype, stage, size and vascular involvement were assessed. Results: Multifocal renal cell carcinoma was diagnosed in 1… Show more

“…Bunun sıklığı yaklaşık %4.5 olarak belirtilmiştir [22] . Tedavisi için stent yerleştirilmesi gerekmektedir [27] . Bizim serimizde 3 hastada fistül riskinin yüksek olabileceği düşünülerek preoperatif, 3 hastada da postoperatif drenajın devam etmesi üzerine toplamda 6 hastaya stent yerleştirilmiştir (%5.82).…”

“…Must the second lesion by necessity be malignant? Must there be a minimum amount of parenchyma in between primary and satellite lesions in order for multifocality to exist (Sargin et al, 2009)? Must all lesions share the same histology?…”

“…This incongruent variability in values is likely due to a variety of reasons. First, some of those studies have not excluded all patients with hereditary or familial RCC, known to be multifocal in nature (Delakas et al, 2002; Klatte et al, 2007; Linehan et al, 2009; Sargin et al, 2009). Second the quality of imaging modalities as well as radiologic evaluation used in different eras or locations may have contributed to the variability in detection of multifocal RCC found by different groups (Schlichter et al, 2000).…”

“…Имеются работы, по данным которых существует прямая связь мультицен-трового расположения опухоли со стадией Т [27], в то время как часть исследователей такую связь отрицают [28][29]. Природа возникновения мультицентрового распо-ложения опухоли в почке до сих пор не всегда понятна.…”
