Multidirectional power flow control among double winding six-phase induction machine winding sets

Abstract: Abstract-This paper presents an indirect rotor-field oriented control (IRFOC) algorithm for symmetrical six-phase doublewinding induction machines with four three-phase sub-winding sets. The presented algorithm introduces the ability to control the power flow between different sub-winding sets. Multiple threephase induction machines are utilised for critical applications such as more-electric aircrafts, due to their high reliability and fault tolerant capabilities. In this paper, the proposed control scheme is… Show more

“…The SPIM with two similar stator three phase windings, shifted by 0, 30, 60 degrees in space and three phase winding in rotor is shown in Figure 3. To put it simply, we will consider that the electrical circuit of the rotor is equivalent to a three-phase winding shortcircuit [27,28]. Figure 3 gives the position of the magnetic axes of the nine windings forming the six phases of the stator and the three phases of the rotor.…”

“…In this section, the association of two three-phase machines. By applying the Park transformation of the two-stator stars, we obtain twice the two-phase models equivalent to the threephase model (Figure 4) [28,29]. In which we use for this the usual transformation of Concordia and Park.…”

“…The machine windings are typically split into numerous sets of 3-phase systems physically displaced by a fixed angle. Typically these machines have a higher complexity in modelling and control as the interaction and cross coupling between phases must be considered, leading to a complicated inductance matrix [2][3][4][5][6][7].…”

“…Recent technological advancement in power flow control has shown that the load sharing can be controlled between the numbers of systems [2,[4][5]. Control can be either centralised or even decentralised [3] for higher reliability.…”
