Multicomponent cellulase production by Cellulomonas biazotea NCIM‐2550 and its applications for cellulosic biohydrogen production

Abstract: Among four cellulolytic microorganisms examined, Cellulomonas biazotea NCIM-2550 can grow on various cellulosic substrates and produce reducing sugar. The activity of cellulases (endoglucanase, exoglucanase, and cellobiase), xylanase, amylase, and lignin class of enzymes produced by C. biazotea was mainly present extracellularly and the enzyme production was dependent on cellulosic substrates (carboxymethyl cellulose [CMC], sugarcane bagasse [SCB], and xylan) used for growth. Effects of physicochemical conditi… Show more

“…Utilizing agricultural ADR Average decolorization rate (mg h -1 ), CD complete decolorization, ND no decolorization a Effect of initial pH (at 37°C, static condition, dye concentration 50 mg l -1 ) b Effect of temperature (at pH 8.0, static condition, dye concentration 50 mg l -1 ) c Effect of initial dye concentration (at 37°C, pH 8.0, static condition) SM synthetic medium, ND no decolorization a 10 ml extract of each agricultural residue (1%). The extract was prepared by mixing 1 g of rice husk, rice straw, bagasse powder and wood shavings with 100 ml distilled water individually and the mixtures were autoclaved at 121°C for 20 min lignocellulosic waste (about 1.3 9 10 10 metric tons per year) as a supplement to assist or stimulate the degradation of industrial effluents could act as a promising technology and may resolve the problem of the disposal of agro-residues (Saratale et al 2010).…”

“…The enzymatic hydrolysis of the cellulosic feedstock has several advantages over the chemical processes because of its potential saccharification efficiency and lower energy consumption (Saratale et al, 2008(Saratale et al, , 2010. During the fermentation process, the biomass-degrading microorganisms secrete extracellular enzymes (Santos, 2013).…”
