Multicentric Reticulohistiocytosis

Abstract: Abstract:Multicentric reticulohistiocytosis is a rare disease of unknown etiology. The skin, mucosa, synovial, bone and internal organs may be involved. Cutaneous nodules and distinctive arthritis are the most prominent clinical features. The pathogenesis of MRH is unknown but probably has an immunologic basis. A 32-year-old female presented with multiple, painless and tender nodules on the dorsum of her hands, forearms and elbows. A histopathological study confirmed the diagnosis of multicentric reticulohisti… Show more

“…The cardinal symptoms include those of joint and skin diseases. While inflammatory joint disease is a frequent presenting symptom, and is sole symptom in 45% of patients, skin disease is the presenting manifestation in 30% of patients [10]. Arthropathy usually precedes skin lesions (50%); skin lesions may precede disease (25%) or both can occur concurrently (25%) [3].…”

“…The trapping of NPs within topological defect cores allows for the release of the defect core energy and for the stabilization of the composite systems [5][6][7][8][9] . LC topological defects may thus be useful as a matrix for new kinds of NP organizations templated by the defect geometry [10][11][12] . The research on LC topological defects is constantly expanding and many attractive systems are emerging, in particular characterized by the formation of different kinds of topological defects in a single system, like LC droplets or shells [13][14][15][16] or even oriented thin smectic films 17,18 .…”
