“…GHb levels were determined by the following five methods: HPLC method using ADAMS-A 1C HA-8160 (Arkray, Kyoto, Japan) 13 and that using HLC-723 G8 (Tosoh, Tokyo, Japan), 14 LA method (RAPIDIA Auto HbA 1C -L; Fujirebio, Tokyo, Japan), 15 enzymatic method (Nordia-N HbA 1C ; Sekisui Medical, Tokyo, Japan) 16 and affinity method (GHb V, affinity mode; Tosoh). 17,18 All these methods were corrected by using Japan Diabetes Society lot 2 GHb 19 and the normal control range of GHb for adults is from 4.3 to 5.3%.…”

“…At baseline and after 10 weeks of treatment, blood samples were collected at the outpatient clinic in the morning after overnight fasting for measurement of the following parameters: HbA 1c , 1,5-anhydro-D-glucitol (1,5-AG), glucose, insulin, glucagon, non-esterified fatty acid (NEFA), total cholesterol, TG, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, apolipoprotein AI, apolipoprotein AII, apolipoprotein B (ApoB), apolipoprotein CII, apolipoprotein CIII, apolipoprotein E, apolipoprotein B48 (ApoB-48), remnantlike particle cholesterol (RLP-C), aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, and creatinine. A high-performance liquid chromatography (HLC-723 G8; Tosoh, Tokyo, Japan) system was used to measure HbA 1c according to the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry reference standard methods [12], and HbA 1c values are therefore shown as National Glycohemoglobin Standardization Program equivalent values in this study. 1,5-AG levels were measured using the enzymatic method with the "Lana AG" column-enzyme assay kit (Nippon Kayaku Co. Ltd., Tokyo, Japan) [13].…”

“…Many new devices introduced on the market using different principles of HbA 1c measurement were scientifically evaluated: HPLC [134,135] , immunoassay [136] , enzymatic assay [137] and even capillary electrophoresis [138] which was previously considered unsuitable for routine HbA 1c assay [139] . Most of these methods showed improved performances in terms of precision and specificity.…”
