Multiband polarization-insensitive cartwheel metamaterial absorber

Abstract: Metamaterials are speci cally engineered to produce electromagnetic properties that are not available in natural materials. Multiband metamaterial (MM) absorbers achieve great research interest due to their applications in sensing, ltering, and stealth. These absorbers are mostly made of multilayered and complex geometrical structures. In this work, a single layered cartwheel shaped (CWS), polarizationinsensitive MM absorber operating in the microwave band is proposed. It shows a good angular stability, and mu… Show more

“…Landy et al2008 [18] produced the concept of the perfect MM absorber with a compact and ultrathin structure, achieving a near-unity absorption by effectively effective impedance matching between the absorber and free space. MM absorbers have been developed in a variety of frequency ranges, including single band [19], [20], dual band [21], [22], and multiband [23]- [25].…”

“…The development of frequency selective surface (FSS) technology [6, 7] has boosted the researcher's community in the design of different two-dimensional polarizers for advanced wireless applications [8]. Note that circular polarization (CP) is impervious to the effects like Faraday rotation, multipath fading, and polarization mismatch compared to linear polarization [9].…”

“…The distance between array elements is smaller compared to conventional antenna arrays. The concept of the MS harvesters is similar to that of the MS absorbers, except that the absorbed power is dissipated in the substrate material [19][20][21][22][23], while in the MS harvesters, the absorbed energy is directed to the rectifier circuit. In the MS harvester design, the input impedance of each harvester is modelled by the grounded resistive load and it should be matched well to the impedance of free space to achieve higher efficiency.…”
