Multiband MIMO Antenna System with Parasitic Elements for WLAN and WiMAX Application

Abstract: A new microstrip slot antenna with parasitic elements has been presented in this paper. The proposed antenna is composed of a microstrip feed line, a ground plane on which some simple slots are etched, and parasitic elements. Simulation results show that the antenna structure allows for the independent adjustment of each frequency. A two-element array configuration of this antenna for MIMO application is investigated as well. For comparison between simulation and measurement result both single and array config… Show more

“…The parasitic elements induce changes in the current path; due to this, resonance occurs at lower frequencies without increasing the antenna size, thereby providing multiband operation. Multiband operation is achieved by parasitic elements in Reference and in Reference using the ½ λ dipole technique. Inverted L‐shaped and T‐shaped parasitic elements are shown in Figures A and B, respectively.…”

“…20 The combination of parasitic element and common ground was designed for multiband WiMAX and WLAN applications earlier. 21 Also, a wideband MIMO antenna with two radiators was designed for mobile devices for LTE, WLAN, WiMAX, WCDMA, and UWB applications. 22 Sometimes miniaturization in MIMO antenna has been achieved by partial disconnected ground.…”
