Multiaxial fatigue life prediction of kiln roller under axis line deflection

Abstract: This paper investigates the multiaxial fatigue life of the roller in rolling contact with wheels with respect to axis line deflection. The multiaxial fatigue criteria proposed by Wang and Brown, together with the rainflow counting method and MinerPalmgren's rule, are applied to the cumulative damage estimation and life prediction. As the axis line deflection of overlong kilns generally results in asymmetric load distribution on each roller, the load ratio is introduced to describe the deflection for quantitati… Show more

“…The finite element software ANSYS was engaged to analyse the structure stress and the thermal stress distribution in the cylinder. The analysis results are helpful in the design and optimization of the rotary kiln cylinder [3][4][5]. The predicted results of outer kiln wall temperature agree well with measurements [6].…”

“…The analysis of the displacement sensor signal is based on the steady periodic signal, which is difficult to adapt to the needs of actual complex working conditions. The Danish company FLSmidth proposed using an inclination sensor to monitor the axial force of the rotary kiln supporting wheel [3][4], while, this method is only limited to axial force monitoring and does not consider radial forces. This article proposes a method for force monitoring of the rotary kiln and designs an online monitoring system to monitor the axial force and radial force of the rotary kiln supporting wheel in real time.…”
