Multi products single machine EPQ model with immediate rework process

Abstract: This paper develops an economic production quantity (EPQ) inventory model with rework process for a single stage production system with one machine. The existence of a unique machine results in limited production capacity. The aim of this research is to determine both the optimal cycle length and the optimal production quantity for each product to minimize the expected total cost (holding, production, setup, rework costs). The convexity of the inventory model is derived. Also the objective function is proved t… Show more

“…Taleizadeh et al (2011a) proposed an EOQ model for a multi-product inventory system in which those are produced on a single machine with a limited capacity. Taleizadeh et al (2011b) suggested an EPQ model for multi-product single-machine manufacturing systems with rework process and back-ordering. Taleizadeh et al (2012) developed an EPQ model for a multi-product single stage production system with immediate rework process where is different from Taleizadeh et al (2011a, b)'s research.…”

“…Zanoni et al [20] suggested an easy-to-use algorithm to solve the same problem, having relaxed the constraint of common cycle time and a single reworking lot for each item in each cycle. Taleizadeh et al [21] developed an EPQ model with reworking in a single-stage production inventory system. Taleizadeh et al [22], on the other hand, developed a production model using the assumptions of common cycle time, backordering, reworking or repair and the existence of scrap products in a defective multi-item production inventory system.…”

“…Marketing researchers and practitioners have long recognized that demand of many retail items is proportional to the amount of inventory displayed (Fathollah Bayati et al, 2011;Taleizadeh et al, 2012). According to Levin et al (1972) "at times, the presence of inventory has a motivational effect on the people around it.…”
