Multi path routing protocol for Improving Reliability in IEEE 802.16 Wireless Mesh networks

Abstract: In IEEE 802.16 Wireless Mesh networks (WMN), multipath routing is used to improve the reliability and load balancing. But existing multi path routing protocols for WMNs, causes congestion in the gateways because of routing and control message flooding. In this paper, a multipath routing protocol is proposed to improve the reliability and provide fault-tolerance in IEEE 802.16 WMNs. In this protocol, the interference and load of each link is determined based on which a combined routing metric is designed. Multi… Show more

“…When a failure occurs on the primary path, this protocol uses a bridge to transfer the data to the other path, and improves the reliability of transmission in a significant manner. Valarmathi and Malmurugan [15] proposed a multipath routing protocol, which selects a path from source node to destination node with the least interference. The combined metric is computed based on the interference and load of each link.…”
