Natural fibre reinforcement is used in important sectors such as medical, aerospace, automobile, and many other fields. Many articles have reported that natural fibre has the potential to replace synthetic fibres. Natural fibre reinforcement has given good results as a brake friction material. It has already been proven that asbestos causes lung cancer and mesothelioma in brakes. Many people died from the effects of asbestos. According to the World Health Organization’s trending brake report, this material leads to serious health issues. This work is going on for the replacement of these materials. Mulberry fibre is a unique material, and PAN fibre is combined with mulberry fibre and used as a brake reinforcement material to replace Kevlar fibre. The brake pads were fabricated with the various wt% of mulberry fibres and PAN fibre [3–12%] with an equal ratio and aramid fibre [3–6%] in the hydraulic hind brake moulding machine. The mechanical, chemical, physical, tribological, and thermal properties were evaluated. MF-2 [6 wt%] mulberry-PAN-fibre-based brake pad composites have shown better results for ultimate shear strength and proof stress, tensile strength, compressive strength, and impact energy.

Biofuels are regarded as the best diesel fuel substitute due to their low sulfur concentration, reduced aromatic hydrocarbon content, renewable nature, and higher oxygen content. In this research article, the impact of producer gas, Calophyllum inophyllum oil, diesel, and a blend of C. inophyllum–producer gas fuel on a variable compression ratio (VCR) compression ignition (CI) engine, and the performance and emission parameters are evaluated. Several test runs are undertaken at a constant speed of 1500 rpm to predict the performance and emission characteristics of the test engine by changing input parameters such as engine load, CR, and fuel mode of operation. The brake thermal efficiency, BTE, is considered the performance characteristic, and CO, HC, NO X , and opacity are considered the emission characteristics for the present study. The biofuel, or producer gas, employed in this study is prepared from waste biomasses, such as leaves, small tree branches, vegetable waste, and cow dung, aiding waste management for a sustainable environment. In addition, a coupled Taguchi–Grey relational analysis technique is used to predict the best possible combination of control factors for optimizing the overall output responses. 12 kg load, a CR of 18, and diesel fuel are found to be the optimum input parameters of an engine toward optimum performance. A confirmation test is performed at the end to validate the outcome of the experiment. An enhancement in performance of 22.75% is observed with the considered Grey relational grade model.

The current study examines the usage of biodiesel as a diesel substitute that is produced through the transesterification of pumpkin and maize with the addition of a diethyl ether (DEE) additive. Pumpkin-maize (PM) biodiesel and addition of diethyl ether (DEE), as well as their blends of 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50% with diesel, were used in performance, combustion, and emission examinations under various load conditions. According to the experimental findings, adding 5 ml of the DEE boosts BTE by 31.91 percent (B20 blend) compared to diesel. While the diesel equivalent of BSFC decreases by 9.519%. NO emission dropped by 34.91 percent at peak loads, HC emissions were augmented by 32.43%, and smoke opacity improved by 27.24%. To enhance the engine performance, combustion, and emission features of the substitute biodiesel diesel, the study emphasises the precise mix proportions of PM biodiesel with DEE addition. Using ANN, BTE, and NO were predicted with R2 values of 0.93 and 0.95, respectively. As can be observed, the R2 value for the ANN model was almost one, suggesting that the ANN models had better predictive power than other machine learning (ML) models.
