Multi-directional coupling dynamic characteristics analysis of TBM cutterhead system based on tunnelling field test

Abstract: The core component, TBM cutterhead, bears a multi-directional impact load because of its direct contact with rock during tunneling. Unreasonable cutter design and parameter set lead to severe vibration or abnormal injury during excavation, seriously affecting the efficiency of the TBM tunneling. Therefore, study of cutterhead dynamics response under impact loads is one of the core content of TBM system design. TBM multi-degree-of-freedom coupled dynamic model contains different geological conditions, cutter sp… Show more

“…Owing to complex geological conditions and mechanical structures, vibration excitation of the segment erector often cannot be calculated and measured accurately. We can only analyze the frequency range of excitation by calculation with a multi-degree of freedom dynamic model (Huo et al 2015). Therefore, a random excitation method is used to better characterize the effects of different dampers and control strategies.…”

“…This algorithm provides an iterative method that simulates mass interactions, and it moves through a multidimensional search space under the influence of gravitation. Huo et al [23][24][25][26] studied on the vibration of the TBM cutter head and the fatigue damage of the cutter head under the multi space load. Tao et al [27] described a hybrid approach that integrates all kinds of investigation methods in real and virtual environments to evaluate the sitting posture comfort in a human-vehicle system.…”

“…They also proposed a free-face-assisted rock breaking method based on a multi-stage TBM cutterhead, to improve the TBM rock breaking efficiency . Huo et al (2015Huo et al ( , 2016) studied the multi-directional coupling dynamic characteristics of TBM cutterhead system, to lay a foundation of cutterhead structural design and system parameters matching. Avunduk and Copur (2018) developed empirical performance prediction models for predicting a EPB TBM excavation performance, and field tests were carried out to validate these proposed models.…”
