Multi-Criteria Decision Making Methods for Determining Computer Preference Index

Abstract: In helping consumers to make a wise decision in purchasing a personal computer (PC), the use of multi-criteria decision analysis methods is a way to provide ranking of the attributes of PCs and to construct the computer preference index (CPI). This paper employs the Rank Ordered Centroid (ROC) method to do the ranking. The findings reveal that the most important attribute is the CPU, followed by the hard drive, the price, the memory card, the warranty, the size, the screen resolution, the Ethernet, the weight … Show more

“…Este segundo componente se ha centrado en la estimación y análisis de las relaciones entre variables. En definitiva, esta línea se dedica a determina la eficiencia de la empresa dentro del sector (Kasim et al, 2011). Asimismo, como para establecer la relación entre diferentes variables es preciso que ésta tenga una base teórica adecuada, esta línea contribuye al campo de investigación con análisis de modelos teóricos, procedimientos, o las implicaciones políticas y educativas (Vera & Villalón, 2005).…”

“…MCDM methods are widely used in composing indices due to their ability to include multiple and, in some cases, conflicting criteria [14,55,62,[72][73][74][75][76][77][78][79][80]. According to Si et al [39], MCDM methods allow for transforming a complex problem of decision making into welldefined steps, which will lead to the selection of an optimal solution.…”

“…The most commonly used multi-criteria aggregation process is the weighted linear combination (WLC) or simple additive weighting method (SAW). Alternatives are scored per criterion, then multiplied by a weight coefficient and finally summed to produce an overall and uniform score for each alternative (Drobne and Lisec, 2009; Kasim et al , 2011; Shenavr and Hosseini, 2014).…”
