Multi-criteria Analysis of Indicators of the Public Transport Infrastructure

Abstract: Public transport is a key element of sustainable transport in medium and large cities. Therefore, it is important that city residents want to use it. This paper aims to determine the criteria of the public transport infrastructure which have the most influence on passenger satisfaction with the public transport system. The criteria of public transport infrastructure of stops, vehicles, and route network were analysed. The primary attention was focused on rating these criteria from the most to the least importa… Show more

“…In the case of our research, we processed a synthesis for four attributes of transport accessibility (lines, directions, connections and walking time). Many authors, among others (Zhu, et al, 2006), (Ušpalytė, et al, 2020), (Mościcka, et al, 2019) or (Mavoa, et al, 2012) approach the issue of accessibility of urban transport from a broad point of view of many socio-economic sectors and thus attempt to make the use of multi-criteria analysis as complex as possible. In comparison with the above studies, our work focused more closely on the geographical concept of accessibility with particular emphasis on the possibility of logical connection of essential attributes of the transport network with time accessibility.…”

“…Valstybė skatina kuo dažniau naudotis viešuoju transportu, kad sumažėtų transporto spūstys, triukšmas, oro tarša ir socialinė atskirtis (Ušpalytė-Vitkūnienė et al, 2020). Tačiau dažnu atveju viešasis transportas kaimo vietovėse nėra išplėtotas dėl mažo vartotojų skaičiaus, jis nepatenkina keleivių poreikių: yra nepasiekiamas, didelės kainos ir perpildytas (Hine, 2014).…”

“…Another critical factor is the purpose of the study, which determines whether it will be more theoretical or practical. (Bajčetić et al, 2018) and(Ušpalytė-Vitkūnienė et al, 2020) work in their methodology with the perception of the user and the direct participant of the traffic, while (Zhou et al, 2021) links transport quality assessment with educational activities. The theoretical framework and the complexity of defining adequate indicators are described by (Išoraite, 2005).…”
