Home composting is judged as an effective municipal waste management option in which household contribution is essential, but it has a low adoption. The objectives of the study were to determine the factors that influence home composting intention and identify the moderating role of composting knowledge in the model, using the combined model of the theory of planned behavior (TPB) and norm activation model (NAM). A structured questionnaire was applied to a sample of 367 residents of Isfahan city, Iran, randomly selected. Data were analyzed using cluster analysis, discriminant analysis, PLS-SEM, and PLS-MGA. Cluster analysis grouped the three clusters based on the constructs of the integrated model, and this result was confirmed by discriminant analysis. Findings show that attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavior control can predict the intention to compost. Study results confirmed the positive effect of awareness of the consequences of composting on ascribed responsibility to compost at home, of responsibility to the personal norm, and of the personal norm on intention to compost at home. Furthermore, it was observed that composting knowledge moderates the relationship between subjective norm and behavioral intention, and the one between perceived behavioral control and behavioral intention. The integrated model had more predictive power than the TPB model. The fit statistic of the integrated model was good and 71% of the variance for intention behavior toward home composting. The insights on factors affecting residents’ intention to compost obtained from this study can be used in measures and programs that reinforce and stimulate home composting.

The growing availability of data coupled with advanced methods and computing power have fostered organizations to adopt business analytics in their decision‐making. Nevertheless, the application of analytics is subject to available resources and capabilities, and, therefore, differs from region to region. Developing countries in particular are exposed to circumstances that can limit the expansion of analytics within their domains. This may prohibit the acceleration of development efforts and, consequently, may result in delays in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) set for 2030. Taking this concern as a starting point, this paper provides the results of a survey on the status of analytics research in developing countries. Through a thorough review and classification of 142 articles published during 2009–2019, we characterize analytics in developing countries along three dimensions. First, we explore the mainstream methodologies appearing in the literature, which range from classic optimization techniques to more recent statistical and machine learning methods. Second, we identify 11 application areas that cover a broad range. Third, we focus on the linkages between the reviewed papers and the 17 UNSDGs. Along this dimension, we establish a connection between the literature and 13 goals, and illustrate how some of these contributions relate to some of the 169 targets set by United Nations. Goals such as gender equality are addressed to either little or no extent by the surveyed literature. Also, the survey reveals no adoption of indicators that are set to track the progress toward the targets.

<p>Aiming at the problems existing in the traditional monitoring system for logistics protection and transportation of solid waste, the optimization design of logistics protection and transportation monitoring system is realized by using big data analysis technology from two aspects of hardware and software. In terms of hardware, the basic structure of the system server, internal components and connection circuit are modified, and the on-board weighing device is installed on the logistics transport vehicle. On the basis of the completion of hardware system installation, the interface of the system is designed and the database is built. The monitoring function of the system is realized through linking communication links, locating vehicle transportation location, real-time monitoring of transportation process, automatic weighing and abnormal alarm of logistics protection, so as to complete the optimization design of the software system. The experimental results show that compared with the traditional system, the response speed of the designed monitoring system for logistics protection and transportation increases by 67.6%.</p>
