Multi-Converter System Modelling in Cost for Reliability Studies

Abstract: Designing a system with a certain level of reliability often impacts its cost. This parameter is even more affected for a system with increased installation rate of failure-prone power electronics. Thus, reliability of converters plays key role in multiconverter system reliability and related economic profitability. In this paper, an economic model considering the power electronics reliability cost and power system reliability cost in planning of multi-converter system is presented. A case study including the … Show more

“…Fides approach takes into account failures that are derived from development or manufacturing errors and overstresses such as electrical, thermal, and mechanical. The methodology also deals with non-functioning phases such as dormant application and genuine storage [70]. The evaluation method of FIDES does not consider infant mortality and the wear-out periods of the components except for some special cases for some sub-assemblies [70].…”

“…The grid is made up of energy storage systems and renewable energy sources that work together smoothly. Diversifying [4] the energy mix not only makes the grid better able to handle changing energy sources, but it also sets the stage for a more sustainable energy mix. Because of this, resilient smart systems help to add green energy sources, which lowers the damage that making and using energy does to the earth.…”
