Multi-contrast high spatial resolution black blood inner volume three-dimensional fast spin echo MR imaging in peripheral vein bypass grafts

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to primarily evaluate the lumen area and secondarily evaluate wall area measurements of in vivo lower extremity peripheral vein bypass grafts patients using high spatial resolution, limited field of view, cardiac gated, black blood inner volume three-dimensional fast spin echo MRI. Fifteen LE-PVBG patients prospectively underwent ultrasound followed by T1-weighted and T2-weighted magnetic resonance (MR) imaging. Lumen and vessel wall areas were measured by direct planimetry. For gr… Show more

“…3D‐FSE imaging offers a useful synergy for spatially selective excitation and nonselective refocusing pulses, and we have demonstrated effective 3D volume selection within this framework. Other work in this area has used 2D selective pulses . 2D selection is a natural choice for Cartesian spatial encoding, because one dimension is encoded “for free” with frequency encoding.…”

“…For suspected complications, specialized imaging such as diffusion-weighted sequences for allograft function 53 and high-resolution vessel wall sequences 54,55 for rejection can be performed. These can be complementary to 3D high-spatial-resolution MR angiography and time-resolved sequences for arterial and venous separation.…”
