Multi-component syntheses of heterocycles by transition-metal catalysis

Abstract: For a long time multi-component syntheses of heterocycles have undeniably been a domain of classical carbonyl condensation chemistry. However, the advent of transition-metal catalysis not only has fertilized strategies in heterocyclic synthesis by uni- and bimolecular transformations but the past decade has also witnessed a rapid development of transition-metal catalysis in new multi-component reactions (MCR). Expectedly, palladium catalyzed processes have received a dominant position, yet, other transition-me… Show more

“…The advantages of hemin over inorganic metal catalysts include higher selectivity, lower cost, and higher surface activity (D'Souza and Muller 2007). Its activity is similar to that of the peroxidase enzyme (Guo et al 2011), and it exhibits good electro catalysis based on the reversible redox of Fe(III)/Fe(II) (Kong et al 2015).…”

“…Multi component reactions (MCRs) have more importance, great interest enjoying an outstanding status in modern organic synthesis and medicinal chemistry because they are one-pot processes bringing together three or more components and show high atom economy and high selectivity 1,2 . MCRs comply with the principles of green chemistry in terms of economy of steps as well as many of the rigid criteria of an ideal organic synthesis.…”
