Multi-analyte Biochip (MAB) Based on All-solid-state Ion-selective Electrodes (ASSISE) for Physiological Research

Abstract: Lab-on-a-chip (LOC) applications in environmental, biomedical, agricultural, biological, and spaceflight research require an ion-selective electrode (ISE) that can withstand prolonged storage in complex biological media [1][2][3][4] . An all-solid-state ion-selective-electrode (ASSISE) is especially attractive for the aforementioned applications. The electrode should have the following favorable characteristics: easy construction, low maintenance, and (potential for) miniaturization, allowing for batch process… Show more

“…Previous work reported several techniques to deposit solid-contact materials, such as dropcasting (DC) [20,21], spin coating [22,23], inkjet printing [24][25][26], and electropolymerization deposition (EPD) [27,28]. DC is the simplest, consisting of two easy steps: Casting the materials onto the WEs followed by drying the electrodes.…”

“…The important features regardless of industry or technology are selectivity, sensitivity, and stability in the design of sensory systems integrated with structures and arrangements of sensory elements (Wan Salim et al 2013). One of the integrated systems including rotational aseptic sampling is a robotic fluid and reusable electrodes formed by ink-jet printing injection system.…”
