Multi-agent System Feedback and Support for Ambient Assisted Living

Abstract: Abstract-Technology has been adopted to mitigate adverse effects associated with aging. Ambient Assisted Living solutions provide user assistance and support which is potentially both efficient and effective. This paper describes initial evaluation results for a Multi-Agent system prototype that provides assistance and support during the day and night through an interface that is adapted according to a person's requirements profile, time of day and current activity or event. Appropriate feedback based on user … Show more

“…In [16], the authors built a system that merges multi-agents and ontologies to support behavior changes based on effective user feedback. In [17] a multi-agent system allowed specific smart applications and their user interfaces to be dynamically updated. In [18], an agent-based framework was used to process user feedback (accept, decline, or change) and to refine the application.…”

“…Systems can be developed that aim to monitor and track Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and subsequently remind or alert users or carers if required. This has the benefit of taking the burden off family members or carers who would otherwise have to personally assist the patient more frequently in addition to providing an increased level of independence for the person suffering from the impairment [2]. Through researching current systems and assistance already available to help in these cases, the ADL of dressing has to date received very little attention, from a technology solution perspective.…”

“…En la proactividad se trata de tomar el control para hacer que las cosas sucedan y no esperar que ocurran eventualmente [8]. Un software con comportamiento proactivo en áreas como la gestión, la toma de decisiones [9], [10], los ambientes asistidos [11], [12] y los sistemas en tiempo real [13] representa un beneficio para el usuario final que lo utiliza. Los dashboards, por constituir sistemas que apoyan la toma de decisiones, deben incluir un comportamiento proactivo.…”
