Multi-Agent Approach Using LoRaWAN Devices: An Airport Case Study

Abstract: The current situation with COVID-19 is changing our courses of action toward ensuring health security. This is particularly crucial in airports, which usually receive more than 300,000 travellers in one single day. In this work, we present an Internet of Things (IoT) network to monitor the status of toilets and improve their maintenance. The system is based on IoT networks with different sensors to control soap levels, room capacity, distances, temperature, and humidity. This information is processed by a mult… Show more

“…In other applications for patients health monitoring, specifically cancer patients, different scenarios have been used, such as screening patients and preparing the face-to-face visit in which the measures relating to the prevention of transmission are reported as well such as remote monitoring scenarios and even monitoring in the hospital [ 43 , 44 ]. The possibilities of RespiraConNosotros application are not limited to home environment, it can be used in the hospital environment and in the follow-up to hospital discharge.…”

“…Therefore, the home environment can be made to comfortable level even before reaching home. Temperature and humidity measurements were also suggested by other studies using LoRa technology in a smart campus application for monitoring and controlling of distributed energy sources in an energy saving programme [14], in an airport using multiagent approach for measuring the temperature of a certain area [39], or in a smart city environment for assessing the feasibility of planting and harvesting [33]. The data can be useful for smart decision making using artificial intelligence.…”

“…A multi-agent approach to combating COVID-19 using multiple LoRaWAN devices has been proposed to monitor sanitation levels and other COVID-19 related data at an airport facility [64]. The focus of the project was ensuring high sanitation levels in airport toilets during this COVID-19 era.…”
