The key for individuals to live in health and well-being is the development of healthy living habits. In order for a healthy life habit to be formed, the relevant behaviors must be acquired in the preschool period. This study aimed to promote health knowledge among children attending preschool through health education. The study was designed using the qualitative case study design. The Personal Information Form and Health Hunter Children Follow Health Interview Form were used as data collection tools in the study. Health education activities were implemented in order to improve children’s knowledge about health. Activities consisted of physical activity, personal hygiene, injury prevention, sleeping habits, healthy nutrition, healthy life, and paramedic and treatment services categories. Activities were applied to children twice a week for eight weeks. As a result of the study, an improvement was observed in children’s knowledge about health. The answers given by the children before and after the Health Education Activities were collected in the categories of nutrition, safe life, illness status, well-being, hygiene, environmental health, and sports.

With the study reported on here we set about to reveal the effects of mental games on third graders’ reading comprehension skills in Turkish classes. The study group comprised 71 students, 35 of whom were included in the experimental group, and 36 in the control group. The experimental group played simple to difficult mental games selected by the researcher for 2 hours per week for 10 weeks. In the control group, the students continued with the traditional teaching process which excluded the playing of mental games until the end of the semester. Mental games like Whatzizz, detective, Q-bitz, Target 5, six, 3 stone, 9 stone, Skippity, Reversi, Kulami, that correspond to skills such as attention-concentration, reasoning, logical inference, and strategic thinking, were used. The study was conducted as a quasi-experimental pre-test/post-test control group design. The quantitative data were collected through the reading comprehension skill test. The pre-test data and the post-test-data collected through the test constituted the research data. The research data were analysed by using the 2-factor ANOVA test for mixed designs. The post-test scores of the students in the experimental group were higher than those of the students in the control group. The findings obtained from the quantitative analysis indicate that mental games had a positive effect on the Turkish reading comprehension of students in the experimental group as well as positive effects on students’ skills such as strategic thinking, logical inference and reasoning.

Internship Entrance Exam for Certified Public Accountant Candidates and Professional Accountants by Working Style: A Study in Antalya Province

Candidates who meet the necessary prerequisites to become a certified public accountant must complete an internship for at least three years. Being able to start an internship is possible if successful in the internship entrance exam, which can be applied three times a year. It is one of the basic conditions for those who successfully complete the internship to be successful in the professional competency exam. A member of the profession who is successful in the proficiency exam can operate independently or affiliated to a workplace. Therefore, being a member of the profession requires a relatively long and difficult process. The internship in this process has a special importance in terms of both starting and successful completion. The aim of this study is to reveal whether there is a difference in the number of accounting interns in terms of gender, the number of applicants in the internship entrance exam periods and the success rate in the exam, and to show the tendency of accounting professionals according to their working styles. IBM SPSS 22 statistical program was used and Mann Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis tests were applied in the study, which was carried out using the data of Antalya province between 2009-2020. According to the findings, while the rate of self-employed professionals is decreasing, the number of dependent employees is increasing, and the numbers of these two groups differ significantly. In addition, it was observed that after 2018, the number of female interns exceeded the number of male interns and the number of interns did not differ significantly in terms of gender. The number of men and women participating in the internship entrance exam differs according to the exam periods, and the rate of those who are successful in the internship entrance exam does not differ in terms of the exam periods.
