MRSIGMA: Magnetic Resonance SIGnature MAtching for real‐time volumetric imaging

Abstract: Purpose: To propose a real-time 3D MRI technique called MR SIGnature MAtching (MRSIGMA) for high-resolution volumetric imaging and motion tracking with very low imaging latency. Methods: MRSIGMA consists of two steps: (1) offline learning of a database of possible 3D motion states and corresponding motion signature ranges and (2) online matching of new motion signatures acquired in real time with prelearned motion states. Specifically, the offline learning step (non-real-time) reconstructs motion-resolved 4D i… Show more

“…A Dracula-based reconstruction could shorten these reconstruction times and potentially the acquisition time for 4D-MRI, as the joint MoCo-HDTV algorithm [23] can overcome higher undersampling than the CG-SENSE reconstruction used in [16]. Combination of 4D-MRI with imaging during irradiation could yield volumetric realtime MRI either through 2D to 3D deformable registration [13] or signature matching [56], enabling verification of the delivered dose [57,58].…”

“…Contrary to standard coil compression techniques, the aim of the compression of multi‐channel data to a single channel in this work is homogeneous coil sensitivity. Consequently, this compression is suboptimal in terms of SNR 63,64 . Supporting Information Figure S3 analyzes the loss between a Roemer coil combination 63 and the proposed coil compression on the 2D data.…”

“…But, one critical issue is its slow image reconstruction, causing the severe latency in image viewing, not to mention interacting with LINAC for real-time gating or tracking. Research efforts are being actively made on tackling this issue (93)(94)(95)(96).…”
