“…A high prevalence of an ophthalmic injury was observed in this study (77.6%) in all participants; this is in agreement with other studies that have also reported a high prevalence of ophthalmic injuries in patients with maxillofacial trauma. [ 3 19 20 ] Facial fractures have been reported to increase the risk of developing an ocular injury by a factor of 6.7 when compared with major trauma in patients with no facial fractures.
