Motion behaviour of metallic particle under diverging conducting electrode considering the random collision and reflection

Abstract: An improved model for the motion dynamics of a metallic particle located in the non-uniform electric field area in the gas insulated system is proposed. To represent the special area, a diverging conducting electrode is used in this study. Based on the fluid mechanics theory, the forces imposed on metallic particle are first developed. The motion process is then divided into two modes, i.e. the particle rolls on the electrode surface and moves in the gap. The collision and reflection processes between the part… Show more

“…At present, the charge research relies on accurate non-destructive measurement techniques. Among the prevailing measurement methods [2], the pulsed electro-acoustic (PEA) method has been widely applied for the space charge research of film materials and cable equipment under DC, square wave and transient pulse voltages due to its simple structure and easy calibration procedure [3][4][5]. The propagation and distortion characteristics of acoustic waves representing the charge information under electrical pulse excitation have become the key to affect the accuracy of the PEA method [6].…”
