Mössbauer Effect Studies of ⁵⁷Co and ⁵⁷Fe in β‐Rhombohedral Boron

Abstract

The behavior of 57Fe and 57C0 doped $-rhombohedra1 boron was investigated by means of Mossbauer spectroscopy. Samples prepared by diffusing 57Fe at temperatures above 1000 "C and W o a t temperatures of 1500 "C or higher showed a reproducible quadrupole interaction and a strongly anisotropic f-factor. Using combinations of the different parameters obtained from the spectra it was attempted to determine the position of tho impurities. There is some evidence for an incorporation within the 28 atom subgroup. It was shown that the sites occupied by Co and Fe do not have a Cj, point symmetry.Es wurden dieyMoBbauerspektren von mit 57C0 und 57Fe dotiertem, 3-rhomboedrischem Bor gemessen. Ein reproduzierbares Quadrupol-Dublett wurde bei Proben erhalten, bei denen 57Fe bei 1000 O C und 57co bei 1500 "C oder hoheren Temperaturen in Bor eindiffundiert wurde. Das anisotrope Verhalten des f-Faktors zusammen mit den anderen Parametern der MoBbauerexperimente weist auf einen Einbau von Co und Fe in der sogenannten 28-Atom-Einheit der Einheitszelle an Gitterplatzen ohne Cr, Punktsymmetrie hin.
