Moss as Bioindicators for Pollution at Fraser Hill and Cameron Highland Pahang Malaysia

Abstract: Tropical Montane Cloud Forest (TMCF) is one of Earth’s most neglected ecosystems around the globe. More than half of these forests are situated within Southeast Asia. Malaysia is known for its numerous mountains that are exceptionally rich in biodiversity and locally endemic species, but they are also threatened by expanding human activity such as forestry, agriculture, infrastructure, and climate change. The study aims to critically assess the current state of moist TMCF, focusing on their physical and biolog… Show more

“…17 Banana cultivation generates a substantial quantity of residues, as each plant yields an average of a single stalk of bananas per annum (i.e., approximately 100 bananas per bunch). 18 A single banana plant generates waste up to 80% of its total plant mass as a single stalk only bears fruit once, and the plant needs to be cut back to promote the growth of new fruit. 19 Thus, for every ton of banana fruit harvested, approximately 3 tons of pseudo-stem, 150 kg of rachis, 480 kg of leaves, and 100 kg of rejected fruits are generated.…”

“…Since the end of 2019, a mysterious pneumonia that sparked a dozen cases of infection in a very low profile in the central part of China, Wuhan, has been rapidly out of control and spread throughout the world at an unimaginable transmission speed (Baharuddin & Zuhairi, 2021;Huang et al, 2020). Furthermore, With the high capability to transmit from human to human, the virus now has a notorious name: COVID-19, which caused the total confirmed infection cases of more than 71 million and death tolls of 1,601,088 in aggregate globally as of December 12, 2020 (Worldometer, 2020).…”
