“…Artibeus jamaicensis (Chiroptera: Phyllostomidae): The Jamaican fruit bat is a common phyllostomid in much of the Neotropical region of central Mexico through the northern parts of South America (Ortega and Castro-Arellano, 2001). This bat was one of the most frequently sampled for ectoparasites in field studies throughout much of Mexico and neighboring countries and, as a result, has a record of well-established host–parasite relationships (Webb and Loomis, 1977; Dick, 2013; Cuxim-Koyoc et al, 2015, 2018; Trujillo-Pahua and Ibáñez-Bernal, 2018).…”

“…Diseases and parasites.-The presence of diverse ectoparasites has been reported for Diphylla ecaudata. It hosts bat flies from the genera Strebla (S. diphyllae, S. mirabilis, S. wiedemanni), Trichobius (T. diphyllae, T. furmani, T. joblingi, T. parasiticus), and Metelasmus (M. pseudopterus- Wenzel et al 1966;Wenzel 1970;Méndez 1988;Guerrero 1995;Graciolli and Coelho 2001;Portella 2010;Cuxim-Koyoc et al 2015;Falcão 2015;Tlapaya-Romero et al 2015;Cuxim-Koyoc et al 2016;Cuxim-Koyoc et al 2018). The most common parasite it hosts is the tick Ornithodoros yumatensis (Méndez 1988).…”
