Mosaic Hydrophobization of the Surface of Organic-Mineral Matrix from Rocks of Bazhenov Formation

Abstract: By data of laboratory studies of mineral composition, analytical estimation of hydrophobicity of rocks by adsorption and NMR methods, pyrolytic studies of organic matter of Bazhenov Formation rocks, dependencies were determined between organo-mineral matrix composition and wettability of the solid surface. Influence of secondary effects on changes in hydrophobization of rocks were revealed. For carbonate minerals, catagenetic substitution of calcium cations for magnesium and iron results in polar changes in at… Show more

“…7,8 Although waterflooding could potentially be effective in lowand ultra-low-permeability reservoirs, 9,10 other oil recovery agents should lead to a better result, especially for tight reservoirs with mosaic hydrophobization. 11 Various enhanced oil recovery (EOR) techniques can be applied for the efficient extraction of shale oil. Common screening criteria 12,13 are not always reliable for unconventional reservoirs.…”
