Morphometric analysis of pulp size in maxillary permanent central incisors correlated with age: An indirect digital study

Abstract: Context:Teeth are hardest part of the body and are least affected by the taphonomic process. They are considered as one of the reliable methods of identification of a person in forensic sciences.Aim:The aim of the following study is to establish morphometeric measurements by AutoCad 2009 (Autodesk, Inc) of permanent maxillary central incisors in different age groups of Udaipur population.Setting and Design:Hospital-based descriptive cross-sectional study carried out in Udaipur.Materials and Methods:A study was… Show more

“…The continuity and morphology of the dentinal bridge could be considered as a sign of successful pulp healing. 1 Dentinal bridge formation was observed in 100% of the specimens in groups 1 to 3 and 80% of the specimens in groups 4 and 5. However, in groups 1 to 3, complete bridge formation was observed in most of the specimens, whereas in groups 4 and 5, moderate contact of the capping material with the dental pulp was more frequent.…”

“…It should be noted that, despite the current literature shows the existence of advanced technologies such as three-dimensional (3D) records of palatal roughness 18 , microscopic analysis of incremental lines of dental cement 19 and the use of softwares for morphometric measurements of dental pulps 20 , and a careful forensic dental examination associated with previous data in dental records, are sufficient to contemplate, with precision and rapidity, the success of the identification procedures, without need of further tests for human identification 13 .…”

“…Dental pulp (DP) is an innervated, highly vascularized soft tissue that provides vitality to the tooth (Rodas-Junco et al 2017). DP is located inside each primary or permanent tooth, and its main functions include the generation of dentine and maintenance of its biological and physiological vitality in response to traumatic injuries, physical stimulus or bacterial infections (Marrelli et al 2018;Ravindra et al 2015;Tatullo et al 2015). The regenerative function of DP suggests that it contains odontogenic progenitor cells or stem cells that are involved in the regeneration process.…”
