Morphology of yellow passion fruit seedlings submitted to triazole induced growth inhibition

Abstract: Inhibiting seedling vegetative growth may be a strategy for improving modulation against biotic and abiotic stresses after transplanting. The objective of this study was to evaluate morphological responses of yellow passion fruit (Passiflora edulis) seedlings to growth inhibition resulted from the application of an inhibitor of gibberellin biosynthesis. The experiment was carried out in a greenhouse using seedlings grown in 290 cm3 polyethylene tubes. At 40 days after emergence, trays containing the seedlings … Show more

“…The growth of basil plants was reduced by the application of paclobutrazol because this compound alters Paclobutrazol on growth, chlorophyll indices and gas exchanges of basil caused by the inhibition of the routes of gibberellins, which negatively regulate floral induction and promote cell expansion (Oliveira et al, 2020). High levels of phenolic compounds in the plant can act as growth inhibitors due to their negative effects on cell division and elongation (Teixeira et al, 2019). Plants that received PBZ had lower robustness quotients, which indicates the balance between height/stem diameter, where the smaller the quotient value, the more robust the plants are (Parladore et al, 2019).…”

“…In addition to its application in traditional medicine, due to its abundance in tropical countries, its potential in other applications should also be explored. Also, passion fruit leaves are reported to be enriched with lignin content . Lignin presents a range of attractive characteristics, including substantial aromaticity, high carbon content (>60%), good tunability of its chemical structure, and abundant oxygen functional groups, making it an attractive candidate for adsorbent development.…”

“…Also, passion fruit leaves are reported to be enriched with lignin content. 38 Lignin presents a range of attractive characteristics, including substantial aromaticity, high carbon content (>60%), good tunability of its chemical structure, and abundant oxygen functional groups, 39 making it an attractive candidate for adsorbent development. Hence, this prospective study aims to develop adsorbents derived from passion fruit leaf to remove dyes of different charge classifications (anionic and cationic).…”
