ITO, TAKAHASHI and UMAHARA (1962) observed the juxtaglomerular cell granules of the bat (Rhinolophus ferrum equinum TEMMINCK) light microscopically for the first time, and described that the granules, though present all the year round, decreased in quantity in hibernation and remarkably increased in summer. This light microscopic finding coinsides with the electron microscopic observation in the present study in regard to the hyperactivity of the juxtaglomerular cells in the non-hibernating bat.…”
