Morphologically controllable synthesis of core–shell structured Au@Cu2O with enhanced photocatalytic activity

Abstract: Core-shell structured Au@Cu 2 O nanocomposites with different morphologies were prepared by a facile solution route. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) results indicated that the obtained nanocomposite consisted of gold nanorod (NR) core and Cu 2 O shell, and both of them were in good crystallization. It was interested that the morphologies of the products could be tuned from octahedral to corner-truncated octahedral by changing the reductant. The results indicated that the redu… Show more

“…Au@Cu 2 O cuboctahedron was prepared by the method reported with little modification [ 17 ]. In a 20-ml beaker, (8.9- x ) ml of deionized H 2 O, 300 μl of 0.1 M CuCl 2 solution, and 0.087 g of sodium dodecylsulfate (SDS) were added in sequence.…”

“…Reports about the construction of Au@Cu 2 O core-shell structure were abundant [ 5 , 17 19 ], and various kinds of Au cores have been involved, such as sphere [ 15 ], rod [ 17 ], cube [ 5 ] and octahedron [ 18 ]. However, as far as we know, few of them referred to the two-dimensional nanoplate core.…”

“…Therefore, in the CNTs-C@Fe-CS-humic acid-tetracycline ternary system, tetracycline can either complex with the surface sites of CNTs-C@Fe-CS or interact with dissolved humic acid in solution or humic acid sorbed with CNTs-C@Fe-CS surfaces. 43 Amide I (due to the large CQO group extinction coefficient) and NH 2 bands at 1647 cm À1 and 1590 cm À1 and the band at around 3400 cm À1 is assigned to O-H, as well as to intermolecular hydrogen bonding. 42 3.6 Characterization of CNTs-C@Fe-CS before and after adsorption FTIR of CNTs-C@Fe-CS before and after adsorption are shown in Fig.…”

“…However, the photocatalytic performance of pure Cu 2 O is far from satisfaction due to its wide size distribution and the high recombination rate of electron-hole pairs [12][13][14]. To get over these difficulties, modification of Cu 2 O with plasmonic nanoparticles seems to be an efficient way [2,5,[15][16][17][18][19][20][21].…”
