Morphological variability of Rossiulus kessleri (Diplopoda, Julida) from different biotopes within Steppe Zone of Ukraine

Abstract: Diplopoda play an important role in the processes of creating and maintaining soil fertility by implementing leaf litter destruction at its initial stages. Recently, in Ukraine the problem of soil fertility restoration has acquired a great urgency due to climate changes (aridity and temperature rising) and constantly increasing anthropogenic impact on natural biotopes, which often have Diplopoda as its element. The aim of this study was to evaluate the integrity of linear morphological characteristics of exper… Show more

“…The negative effect of abiotic and biotic environmental factors, against the background of climate changes, in the conditions of Ukraine is inevitably reflected in the condition of the soil (Savosko et al, 2018), vegetation (Lykholat et al, 2018a(Lykholat et al, , 2018bNazarenko et al, 2018), animals (Boyko & Brygadyrenko, 2016;Faly et al, 2017;Didur et al, 2019;Pokhylenko et al, 2019) and significantly affects the health of the population (Kotsariev et al, 2001;Pertseva et al, 2008Pertseva et al, , 2012Lykholat et al, 2016). Preservation of the existing biological diversity and enlargement of its range in Ukraine is possible using relic species, including Ginkgo biloba L. This plant is a relic tree which has been preserved in natural conditions only in China.…”

“…Climate is the key environmental factor which determines the ontogeny of plants and their geographical distribution (Ramirez-Valiente et al, 2015), so any variations in climate entail changes in plant growth and productivity. Today, one of the urgent tasks of ecology is to find the ways that ensure the maintenance and rational use of biological diversity and productivity of ecosystems (Didur et al, 2018) including phytocenoses (Klymenko et al, 2017;Shcherbyna et al, 2017;Khromykh et al, , 2018b and zoocenoses (Didur et al, 2019;Lykholat et al, 2019;Pokhylenko et al, 2019), as well as improving human health (Pertseva et al, 2012;Lykholat et al, 2016).…”

“…The environmental effects of different nature xenobiotics and arid climate in the Steppe Dnieper negatively influence on all elements of ecosystems: soil, in particular, devastated (Savosko, 2011;Savosko et al, 2018), plant metabolism (Myitsyik & Lykholat, 2000;Grygoryuk et al, 2014;Lykholat et al, 2017Lykholat et al, , 2018Opanasenko et al, 1998) and animal organisms (Andrusevich et al, 2018;Lykholat et al, 2016Lykholat et al, , 2018Lykholat et al, , 2019Pokhylenko et al, 2019), which as result has a adversely impact on health population (Pertseva et al, 2007(Pertseva et al, , 2008Yermishev et al, 2017).…”
