Morphological characterization of fruits, seeds and seedlings of araticum plant (Annona crassiflora Mart - Annonaceae)

Abstract: -Araticum (Annona crassiflora Mart. -Annonaceae) is a species with great ecological importance and potential for fruit production. Its fruits, seeds and seedlings were morphologically described in this article as being the main objective of this study. To describe and illustrate the examples, 100 seeds and 42 fruits were analyzed; the latter being collected in Santo Antônio do Leverger -MT -Brazil, in 2011. To describe the morphology of the seedling, 100 seeds were germinated in two different environments. The… Show more

“…The data presented here for seed dimensions are close to those of Machado, et al (2016), in a study with matrices from the Goiás state region, and of Pimenta, et al (2013) in headquarters located in Mato Grosso. The variation in seed size of A. crassifl ora is normal for polyspermic fruits where there is competition for nutrients, which aff ects the fi nal size.…”

“…The seeds were used in water for 12 h and sectioned crosswise and longitudinally with steel blade for observation of the embryo, as well as its position inside the seed. The user characteristics were analyzed for identification (Brito et al, 2014;Castenllani et al, 2008;Groth, 1989;Pimenta et al, 2013;Trindade et al, 2021) For the analysis of the ornamentation of the seed cout, a repetition with three seeds for each species, extracted from ripe fruits, after moisture removal was fixed in stubs and metallized with pale gold and examined under scanning electron microscopy (SEM).…”
