394МОРФОЛОГІЯ / MORPHOLOGY rats. The adjuvant arthritis model was induced by subplantar injection of complete Freund's adjuvant. A group of intact animals was also formed. On the 7 th , 21 st and 35 th day after modeling of adjuvant arthritis, ankle joints of the rats of experimental groups were isolated for histological examination. At the indicated terms the number of leukocytes and the sedimentation rate of erythrocytes were determined in the blood, and the content of total protein and rheumatoid factor were measured in the serum. The assessment of the local condition of the joints of the experimental animals showed that in rats with the model of adjuvant arthritis on the 7 th day of modeling signs of the inflammatory process in the joints, namely edema and hyperemia, were observed as well as the index of arthritis was increased by 1.4 times compared to intact animals. In the articular cartilage during this period of observation, signs of degenerative changes corresponded to acute arthritis were determined correlating with the investigated hematological indicators of inflammation (the content of leukocytes, total protein, rheumatoid factor, as well as the rate of erythrocyte sedimentation). When the observation period increased to 35 days, the process became chronic, which led to the development of pronounced arthrosis disorders, which appeared in the absence of a cartilage coating on most of the articular ends of the bones that form the ankle joint and the lack of normalization of blood parameters. The obtained data can be used to justify and develop effective methods of treatment of arthritis in clinical practice.
