In university teaching, a MOOC is often regarded as an isolated online course and thus underestimated in its didactic application possibilities within traditional teaching and learning environments. In this study, the "Pre-MOOC" design is presented as an example, in which the didactic em-bedding of an online course is the first phase of a lecture in higher educa-tion. After a brief overview of the current state of research on Pre-MOOCs, the article describes the instructional design process of the lecture in which we used the instructional design model ADDIE. Furthermore, the study de-scribes the implementation and evaluation in a master program of electrical engineering. We will analyze the results of the evaluation with regard to the concept of a Pre-MOOC. Based on feedback from students and teachers, rec-ommendations for designing a course with the Pre-MOOC design will be provided.

The process of developing education is a vital and important issue around the world as it is an issue that is inherited through time, and it is one of the most important challenges facing the world. Distance education is one of the means of developing education through which knowledge can be spread and which can help people to overcome obstacles of time and space. Recently, teaching and learning systems have become completely dependent on e-learning, especially during the corona virus disease (COVID-19) pandemic since the world has turned to electronic transactions in all areas, especially in education, and the most used technology includes the use of online training courses such as massive open online courses (MOOCs). It provides great support to the distance learning process as it can facilitate the learning process by diversifying its contents via media, such as text and video. In addition, MOOCs are the most popular and effective online courses. The aim of this paper is to provide an in-depth analysis of the definition, characteristics and patterns of MOOCs. Also, this paper discusses the specific advantages and disadvantages of taking up MOOCs along with the different challenges that MOOCs are facing. In addition, various suggestions will be given to make improvements that can help in making process enhancements to MOOCs. Finally, this paper presents the importance of MOOCs in the COVID-19 era. We hope this paper will help instructors to understand how MOOCs can be made more efficient, enable learners to become more organised and increase their understanding of MOOCs, and will help education development system specialists to find suitable solutions for problems that MOOCs are facing. Τα Μαζικά Ανοικτά Ηλεκτρονικά Μαθήματα (Massive Open Online Courses, MOOCs) αποτελούν μια από τις νέες μορφές ηλεκτρονικής μάθησης, αναπτύσσονται, κυρίως κατά την τελευταία δεκαετία, με εκθετικούς ρυθμούς και βρίσκονται στο επίκεντρο του εκπαιδευτικού και ερευνητικού ενδιαφέροντος. Με κύρια χαρακτηριστικά τους τη μαζικότητα, την ανοικτότητα και τη χρήση μεθόδων ηλεκτρονικής μάθησης έχουν αναχθεί σε μέσο παροχής εκπαιδευτικών προγραμμάτων απαντώντας στην αυξανόμενη ζήτηση ευέλικτων μορφών εκπαίδευσης για μεγάλο αριθμό εκπαιδευομένων με διαφορετικό γνωστικό υπόβαθρο. Η δυνατότητά τους να προσφέρουν προγράμματα μάθησης από απόσταση με ευελιξία συμμετοχής και κατάργηση γεωγραφικών και χρονικών περιορισμών συνέβαλε στο να θεωρούνται εναλλακτική μορφή παροχής προγραμμάτων επαγγελματικής ανάπτυξης εκπαιδευτικών. Η παρούσα διατριβή παρουσιάζει και μελετά ένα υβριδικό μοντέλο MOOCs επαγγελματικής ανάπτυξης εκπαιδευτικών, το οποίο αναπτύχθηκε από την Ερευνητική Ομάδα Ηλεκτρονικής Μάθησης του Πανεπιστημίου Πελοποννήσου. Το συγκεκριμένο μοντέλο συνδυάζει χαρακτηριστικά τόσο των xMOOCs, όπως η διάρθρωση ενοτήτων και εργασιών σε εβδομαδιαία βάση, η δομή του εκπαιδευτικού περιεχομένου, η ανάρτηση εκπαιδευτικού υλικού και η ανάθεση και αξιολόγηση ατομικών ή/και ομαδικών εργασιών ανά ενότητα, όσο και των cMOOCs, όπως η έμφαση στη συνεργασία και τη δημιουργικότητα των συμμετεχόντων, στον διάλογο και τον αναστοχασμό, με στόχο τη σύνδεση των παιδαγωγικών και τεχνολογικών γνώσεών τους με τη σχολική πραγματικότητα. Με βάση το εν λόγω μοντέλο σχεδιάστηκαν και υλοποιήθηκαν δύο MOOCs επαγγελματικής ανάπτυξης φιλολόγων με στόχο την ενίσχυση των τεχνολογικών και παιδαγωγικών δεξιοτήτων που είναι απαραίτητες για την αξιοποίηση διαδικτυακών εφαρμογών στα γλωσσικά μαθήματα. Στα δύο αυτά ανοικτά μαθήματα επιτεύχθηκαν υψηλά ποσοστά επιτυχούς ολοκλήρωσης (62,5% και 57,6%) συγκριτικά με τα ερευνητικά ευρήματα άλλων σχετικών μελετών. Ο σχεδιασμός και η υλοποίηση πραγματοποιήθηκε με γνώμονα τις αρχές της συνεργατικής μάθησης και του κονεκτιβισμού και η διάρθρωση των αντικειμένων και των δραστηριοτήτων των εκπαιδευτικών βασίστηκε αποκλειστικά: α) στην ενεργό συμμετοχή και δημιουργικότητα, β) στην αλληλεπίδραση μεταξύ ομότιμων, γ) στην αμοιβαία υποστήριξη και δ) στη συνεργασία των συμμετεχόντων. Τα αποτελέσματα της πιλοτικής έρευνας αξιοποιήθηκαν, επίσης, για τον σχεδιασμό του MOOC της κύριας έρευνας, στον οποίο δόθηκε έμφαση στον παράγοντα της συνεργασίας των εκπαιδευτικών.Τα ερευνητικά δεδομένα προήλθαν: α) από δύο online ανώνυμα ερωτηματολόγια, β) από ημιδομημένες συνεντεύξεις και γ) από τις αναρτήσεις των εκπαιδευτικών στους χώρους συζητήσεων του μαθήματος. Τα αποτελέσματα κατέδειξαν ότι το πλαίσιο σχεδιασμού που επελέγη ήταν αποτελεσματικό και προώθησε την ενεργό συμμετοχή, την αλληλεπίδραση και τη συνεργασία μεταξύ των συμμετεχόντων εκπαιδευτικών. Επίσης, αναδείχτηκε ότι οι εκπαιδευτικοί από τη συμμετοχή σε ένα MOOC επαγγελματικής ανάπτυξης επιδιώκουν: α) ευελιξία στην παρακολούθηση, β) οργάνωση του προτεινόμενου εκπαιδευτικού υλικού και γ) δυνατότητα εφαρμογής του περιεχομένου στη διδακτική πράξη. Ιδιαίτερα σημαντική ήταν για τους συμμετέχοντες η ενεργητική εμπλοκή τους στα μαθήματα και η εφαρμογή στην πράξη των νέων γνώσεων και δεξιοτήτων, στρατηγική που ενισχύει την επαγγελματική αυτοπεποίθηση των εκπαιδευτικών, γιατί υιοθετούν στη διδασκαλία τους στρατηγικές που ήδη έχουν εφαρμόσει ως εκπαιδευόμενοι. Η έρευνα ανέδειξε, επίσης, ότι η πλειονότητα των εκπαιδευτικών έμεινε ικανοποιημένη από τη συμμετοχή στα MOOCs, κυρίως λόγω της αλληλεπίδρασης και της ανταλλαγής ιδεών με συναδέλφους. Τέλος, οι συμμετέχοντες υποστήριξαν ότι στο πλαίσιο της κοινότητας μάθησης, που δημιουργήθηκε εντός των δύο MOOCs, είχαν τη δυνατότητα να ανταλλάξουν απόψεις, να αλληλεπιδράσουν με εμπειρότερους και λιγότερο έμπειρους συναδέλφους, καθώς και να γνωρίσουν διαφορετικές οπτικές πάνω σε εκπαιδευτικά ζητήματα και να παρατηρήσουν τις διδακτικές μεθόδους άλλων εκπαιδευτικών, ώστε να ανανεώσουν έτσι και τη δική τους διδασκαλία.
