Aussi, après avoir évalué le degré d'incongruité, de surprise, de clarté et de drôlerie de 18 dessins soit d'humour noir, soit d'humour non noir, 283 étudiants ont choisi le dessin qu'ils avaient le plus apprécié et celui qu'ils avaient le moins apprécié. Ils ont justifié par écrit ces choix en décrivant leur ressenti émotionnel. Les résultats mettent en évidence une singularisation de l'humour noir concernant les émotions associées a `l'appréciation et au rejet de dessins humoristiques. Les participants exploitent plus de lexiques émotionnels pour décrire leur ressenti face a `un dessin d'humour noir que face a `un dessin d'humour non noir. Pour les deux types d'humour et pour les dessins appréciés et non appréciés, les participants utilisent le lexique émotionnel de valence positive et négative, car leur ressenti émotionnel est complexe et ambivalent. Ces résultats sont expliqués avec la théorie de l'évaluation cognitive de l'émotion (Sander & Scherer, 2009) qui implique une évaluation via des normes sociales et qui permet de comprendre que le contenu transgressif de l'humour noir provoque proportionnellement plus d'émotions de valence négative.
