Monolacunary Germanomolybdates Binding with Transition‐Metal Ions (CoII, NiII, and MnII) in Aqueous Solution: Synthesis, Crystal Structures, and Magnetic Properties

Abstract: have been synthesized by the reactions of transition-metal ions (Co 2+ , Ni 2+ , Mn 2+ ) with H 4 [α-GeMo 12 O 40 ]·14H 2 O in aqueous solution, isolated as the imidazole salts, and characterized by singlecrystal and powder X-ray diffraction analyses, IR and UV/Vis spectrometry, cyclic voltammetry, elemental analysis, mag-[a] Key 1699 netic properties, and thermal gravimetric analysis. These are the first examples of transition-metal-monosubstituted germanomolybdates. The UV/Vis spectra of compounds 1-3 were r… Show more

“…[1][2][3][4] The interest in this topic can be explained, on one hand, by the impressive diversity of the structural types of these complexes and stability of their ''building blocks'', allowing the fabrication of complicated systems containing hundreds or even thousands of transition metal atoms in a more or less controlled way. Moreover, this class of coordination compounds demonstrates a number of very promising properties related to various applied aspects, such as catalysis, [5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12] materials science, [13][14][15][16] molecular magnetism [17][18][19][20] etc., thus stimulating the development of multidisciplinary studies in this field.…”

“…Polyoxometalates (POM) represent a large class of metal–oxide polynuclear complexes. Its main feature is a huge structural diversity both in connectivity and in size (reaching to nanoscale objects with hundreds of transition metal atoms), which is, in turn, reflected in a high variety of chemical properties. This area attracts attention due to multiple aspects, such as catalysis (in particular photocatalysis), materials science and nanodevices, molecular magnetism, etc.…”
