The nanocrystalline BaFe 12 O 19 powders were obtained from citrate sol-gel combustion-derived powder upon annealing at 800-1100°C, and explored their structural, micro-structural, optical and magnetic properties. The thermal decomposition of citrate sol-gel combustion product was verified by means of thermogravimetric and differential thermal analysis. Structural identification of the citrate sol-gel combustion powder and annealed samples were investigated by powder X-ray diffraction. Though the combustion product exhibits cubic spinel phase material, the annealed powder yields good quality nanocrystalline hexagonal BaFe 12

Single‐phase BaCoTiFe10O19 (BaCoTi‐M) nanoparticles were prepared by a modified sol–gel process, using metallic chlorides as starting materials. The physical chemistry process of BaCoTi‐M formation, the interdependences between composition, technological conditions, microstructure, and magnetic properties were studied by X‐ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform‐infrared (FTIR), scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM), and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). XRD and FTIR results show that BaCoTi‐M nanoparticles formed directly from γ‐Fe2O3, spinel ferrite, and barium salts without the formation of α‐Fe2O3 and BaFe2O4. The lattice shrinkage of BaCoTi‐M nanoparticles that occurred on increasing the calcining temperature from 973 to 1173 K under holding for 2 h or on increasing the holding time in the range 0–2 h at 1173 K was discovered by analyzing the dependences of lattice parameters on the heat‐treatment conditions. The shrinkage led to a relatively higher concentration of magnetic Fe3+ cations in the unit cell, and resulted in an increase of specific saturation magnetization under the corresponding conditions. Microstructural characterization shows that the evolutions of coercivity, remnant magnetization, and squareness ratio depended on the crystal growth and the reduction of structural defect as well as a decrease of grain boundary.

First‐Principle Study of Structural, Electronic, and Magnetic Properties of Strontium Mono Ferrite Ceramic

In this research, structural, electronic, and magnetic properties of Strontium mono ferrite ceramic were studied. The calculations were performed by Full‐Potential‐Linearized Augmented Plane Wave method in the framework density functional theory with different approximations. The results suggest that among the four states of nonmagnetic, ferromagnetic, antiferromagnetic, and ferrimagnetic of SrFe2O4, ferrimagnetic is the most stable state. “Generalized Gradient” and “Local Spin Density” approximations were not an appropriate approach to calculate the band gap and magnetic moment of the compound. Therefore, other approximations such as GGA+U, LSDA+U, and modified Becke–Johnson were used. Band gap and lattice constants improved using these approximations. The Hubbard parameter was calculated (Ueff = 4.5 eV) by an ab initio method. Then, the electronic properties of SrFe2O4 such as band gap, exchange constant, and magneto crystalline anisotropy as well as the influence of pressure on these properties were investigated by using GGA+U approximation. Calculated magnetic moment for strontium mono ferrite is equal to 2.72 μB in the semiconductor state. Lattice constant results are in consistent with experimental studies. However, the amounts for bulk modulus, magnetic moment, and band gap have been not estimated experimentally.
