Monitoring scheme for early detection of coronavirus and other respiratory virus outbreaks

Abstract: In December 2019, an outbreak of pneumonia caused by a novel coronavirus (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 [SARS-CoV-2]) began in Wuhan, China. SARS-CoV-2 exhibited efficient person-to-person transmission of what became labeled as COVID-19. It has spread worldwide with over 83,000,000 infected cases and more than 1,800,000 deaths to date (December 31, 2020). This research proposes a statistical monitoring scheme in which an optimized np control chart is utilized by sentinel metropolitan airports… Show more

“…Early identification of pathogenic agents is of great importance in monitoring and controlling infectious disease epidemics [ 30 , 31 , 32 ], especially since the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has reinforced the need for rapid, sensitive, reliable, and cost-effective POCT devices for large-scale population screening [ 33 , 34 ]. Compared with traditional detection platforms, microfluidic technology integrates multiple reaction processes into a single microchannel, which has the advantages of lower reagent usage, streamlined operation, and improved portability while at reduced cost [ 20 , 35 , 36 ].…”

“…A few intrusive estimation procedures are proposed to gauge Breathing Rate (BR) such as electrical impedance tomography [6]. In any case, the conventional BR estimation strategies depend on uncommon electronic sensors, and skin-contact required by rebellious brings much bother and inconvenience to individuals [7,8]. In this case, computer vision analysts propose non-contact farther BR estimations from visual information to screen the Breathing Rate.…”

“…They could serve as indicators of the occurrence of infectious illnesses. [4][5][6][7][8][9] Moreover, disease monitoring allowed researchers to ascertain seasonal or cyclical patterns in the incidence of the condition as well as if it was growing or decreasing. The effectiveness of an intervention in reducing the number of incidents before and after implementation may be ascertained by intervention evaluation.…”
