“…Poly( N -vinylcaprolactam) (PVCL) has received significant attention due to its characteristic features and diversified applications in biomedical science and pharmaceutical industries. Owing to its tremendous sensitivity and biocompatibility, PVCL-based “smart” materials such as nanohybrids, microgels, hydrogels, and copolymers have been widely used in various applications. , PVCL can respond to different stimulants, such as proteins, temperature, ionic strength, and osmolytes. Deep eutectic solvents (DESs) are an emerging class of benign liquid formulations that have gained popularity owing to idiosyncratic properties that outperform traditional ionic liquids (ILs). High solubilization power, solventless preparation, low volatility, good stability, cost effectiveness, and wider availability are some of the properties of DESs that make them an ingenious and perfect solvent alternative. The DESs consist of hydrogen bond acceptor (HBA) and hydrogen bond donor (HBD) groups.…”

“…1(a) clearly depicts the coil to globular transition of PVCL aqueous solution at 32.0 °C which is consistent with the literature. 32 AuNSs exhibit hydrophilic character which leads to an enhancement in the LCST value of PVCL. A continuous increase in the LCST of PVCL is observed with increasing concentrations of AuNSs as can be seen in Fig.…”

“…Due to the lack of the hydrogen donor atom in the molecular structure of PVCL, the carbonyl group is only involved in hydrogen bonding. 32 The inter-hydrogen bonding interactions between PVCL and AuNSs can be shown by observing the shift in the stretching frequency of the -CQO bond of PVCL towards the higher wavenumber side. Henceforth, the amide I band of PVCL in the presence of AuNSs is observed at 1642 cm À1 as shown in Fig.…”

“…Any conformational change in the polymer as a consequence of disturbances in its structure is best monitored by a shift in the stretching frequency of the amide I band. 31 Therefore, one can conclude that the presence of DES plays a key role and disturbs the solvation layer surrounding the polymer structure. Dynamic light scattering analysis for the size distribution of PVCL in terms of volume percentage with varying DES concentrations Subsequently, the size distribution of the polymer PVCL in terms of percentage is another aspect of dynamic light scattering studies.…”

“…15 The influence of various additives such as osmolytes, proteins and nanoparticles has been systematically explored in the literature. [16][17][18] Based on literary sources, only a few reports are available on the combined study of DESs and TRPs. Recently, Liu reported the preparation of LCST regulable DES-lignin grafted PVCL via electron transfer-atom transfer radical polymerization.…”
