Momentum-space coupled-channel optical method for positron-hydrogen scattering

Abstract: The scattering of positrons from atomic hydrogen is studied by using the momentum space coupled channels optical method at intermediate energy ͑15-100 eV͒. Ionization continuum and positronium formation channels are included in the coupled channels calculation via a complex equivalent-local optical potential.

“…The method can allow us to take the long-range polarization and short-range interaction between the incident particle and the target into account. It has been applied to calculate various scattering cross sections for positron-atom systems (H, He, Li, Na, and K [11][12][13][14][15]). Satisfactory results have been obtained compared with experimental data and other theoretical results.…”

“…In parallel, Zhou, McCarthy and Ratnavelu [83] developed the CCOM with a complex equivalent local potential, which treated the neglected atomic states and allowed for the Ps formation channels. In a series of calculations, Zhou and co-workers reported the CCOM for positron-alkali as well as positron-helium and positron-magnesium scattering [84][85][86].…”
